My Little Piece Of Heaven

My Little Piece of Heaven

2018 has been a fantastic summer, weather wise, up to now in the U.K. Day after day of wall to wall sunshine and hot temperatures. I know it’s not to every ones liking and the hardship it can cause to the livelihoods of farmers through the lack of rain water. However, I love it.

I Don’t Miss The City

Since uprooting and moving to Wales last year, I am blown away by the natural beauty that surrounds me. I was born and bred in a city environment which I loved, but since being here I look back at photographs and video of the hustle and bustle of daily life and wonder how on earth I did so. I’m not knocking city life, all I’m saying is it’s not for me yet it took so long to find out.

No Crowding Here

See, I’m not always jolly and daft, I sometimes have my serious side. I think I’ve been affected by the wonder of everything I’m seeing on a daily basis. Take the photograph I took at the top of this post. It was a walk I did with Wifey that starts about a mile from where we live. You can walk for 10 miles or 1 mile or not at all, but whatever you choose, all you can see are fields and hills and more fields. They say we live on a crowded island, but the only crowding I’ve seen here are sometimes too many sheep.

Red Kites and Swallows

Rush hour consists of a couple of cars on a bad day! You’re probably likely to see more cycles than cars. People we meet are always so friendly, they always want to chat and seem to take a genuine interest in our lives. It takes some getting used to after living in the city of millions and never knowing who your neighbours are. So many different species of birds, House Martins, Swallows, Swifts, Red Kites to name a few.

I Hope You Find Your Heaven

Another thing I’ve found since living here is the urge to get out of bed in the morning. I never felt that way in the city. Of course, I had to get up, but I never had the same enthusiasm that I have now. Life has never been so good for me. With all the troubles in the world at the moment, I appreciate how fortunate I am. I hope you find your little piece of heaven.

Here’s a website if you’re interested in walking in Powys. Website

I am so pleased for you. The only time I went to Wales it rained everyday. We were in a b & b, and as we couldn’t stay in all day, left halfway through our stay.

Oh, that’s a shame Susie. We are having a gorgeous summer here at the moment. 🙂

You are so lucky. Not too many people in this day and age find their little piece of heaven. 😇

I am, Hope. I so appreciate every day here. I never thought I would and when I least expected it, I found it. Thank you for your comments.

    What a wonderful post!
I am so pleased you are enjoying your new lifestyle Trev. It’s 42 years since we made our move and escaped to the country. My late hubby had a farming background and his family had a butchering business, he knew everything there was to know about farming and the animals we were privileged to live alongside. For me it was new way of life and one I’ve never regretted.
Funnily enough I have a post that was intended for today that has similar sentiments to yours, but I swapped the word prompt with Gerry so now mine is due out on Saturday.

I love where I am immensely and am not sure I could ever leave the city entirely. I live on the outskirts of a large-ish city now, and occasionally miss the larger city in which I used to live but never the small town in which I grew up. Heaven looks different for all of us, and finding it is such sweetness.

Thank you, Jay. I like your words, ‘heaven looks different for all of us’, so right. I suppose there’s truth in home is where the heart is.

What a refreshing beautiful post! If there were Star Trek transporters, I would visit your heavenly location. It’s nice to just revel in nature.

Thank you so much, rugby843, very kind words. I’m not sure where you are, but this piece of heaven is a little corner of mid-Wales, about 15 miles from the English border. Thank you again.

I'd love to hear from you
