Today’s Daily Post Photograph Challenge is simply called circle. I’ve never been the brightest button in the class, but there are some things that I find truely amazing, so much so that I couldn’t even start to explain why. One of these things is a circle. As soon as the word is mentioned, you tend to think of a round shape, a wheel, plate, coins and even your life perhaps.

Even the earth itself is a circle. Which brings me to mention that the biggest theoretical circle is a straight line. Imagine if you were one of those backpackers that enjoy er…… backpacking. Well, if you started walking on Route 66 and carried across the world until you got back to where you started from, you would have walked not only in a straight line but a circle too.

I think life is similar. I hope I’m not sounding like a Priest here, giving his sermon! It’s supposed to be a humorous blog, not a theological one. Anyway, human’s are creatures of habit, so our lives will be made up of routines, usually starting in the morning, getting up, going to work, coming home then going to bed, a complete circle that we carry out every day. If our lives were made up of straight lines, who knows where we would end? Probably back at the start after making a big enough straight line that becomes a circle!

There is so much in life that we need to be circular. The wheel, dinner plate…….. look, I’ve come full circle from where I started my post. Did you see what happened there? Even life itself is one big circle, another day, another life and so the circle continues. If you’re anything like me, I only like to look forward, keeping the circle revolving, not looking back, and so it goes.

You know, I find this post quite deep, and it really wasn’t meant to be. That’s life.

I'd love to hear from you

Nice. Can’t resist adding a Joni Mitchell lyric:

And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We’re captive on the carousel of time
We can’t return we can only look
    Behind from where we came
And go round and round and round
    In the circle game

Very good, Dave. There’s another song by Harry Chapin, ‘All My Life’s A Circle’ which is similar.
