I Sat Next To A Wooden Statue And His Arm Fell Off!

By Posted on 11 Comments 2 min read

I was out and about Saturday and it was a pleasant change. Fresh air, exercise and all that stuff. You know how it is, you wander around for a while and then see a bench and think to yourself, ‘Oh, I’ll just sit down for five minutes.’

This particular bench had a wooden statue of a man sat on it. It was showing a man resting. As there was no one around I sat down next to it. I felt like I had protective company as it was quite large. All I was doing was admiring the surroundings and enjoying taking the weight off my feet.

Then It Happened……

THUD! At first I was surprised as to what the thud was. That strange feeling that something isn’t right. Then I noticed his arm had fallen off and now lay between me and him. What the hell!! You often see sculptures in stone of the human form and they have an arm missing. This however, definitely had two arms when I sat down and only one arm when I stood up.

You can see in the photograph, his arm resting next to his left leg. I was beside myself, (a bit like his arm) but I hadn’t done anything except to sit down. If you’re like me, when something daft like this happens, you tend to look around to see if anyone saw it. Thankfully, I was alone. Well, alone except for the statue and his broken arm.

Why oh why did it happen to me? I took the photo of it and quickly and quietly moved on. Slowly at first, then my step gaining pace as I got further away. I wonder if there was CCTV on the subject? Perhaps I was a victim whereby it’s all a setup with people watching my every move for their own enjoyment?

I shan’t be going back there for sometime. Come to think of it, I shan’t get anywhere near a statue in future.

I'd love to hear from you

You maybe right, but what that would mean, I have no idea.

Like the old Dangerfield routine, woke up, tied my shoes, lace broke. Put shirt on, button fell off. Now I’m afraid to go the bathroom.

OMW! I wouldn’t go back either. Seems like a precarious place to sit. Thank you for the follow.

Then again, maybe you should go back and ask the Wooden man how he is? He might enjoy your company
    – whilst you rest your feet.:) Oh no, do you think the statue might loose a foot??

I have a favourite bench to stop at and admire the view; hope they don’t put any statues on it.

That’s what I would be worried about, if something else fell off. It does seem a strange place to put a statue.
