It’s A Wrap

Like most people on this planet, I love to give treats and presents to my family at Christmas.

A Wrap

I only have one problem, which I think most men can relate to and women know instinctively. Wrapping presents look more like they’ve been unwrapped, trampled by a herd of elephants then re-wrapped when I get involved. What makes one person wrap their gifts so perfect it’s almost a work of art, yet no matter how I try it will always look like a pigs ear?

Youtube

It got to a point where I started sending everyone flowers so I could avoid the wrapping process. The likes of Amazon offer a gift wrap service which is a real boon. Youtube, where you can learn anything from baking bread to repairing an old shower cap now has a tutorial on gift wrapping! Even after watching I still end up with a crumpled mess of paper and sellotape.

Sellotape

Another thing I can never understand is how little sellotape is used when the wrapping is done properly. I can use a whole small role just trying to stick one corner down. The corners are a real pain too. Folding them into triangles, I always end up with a big piece of paper sticking out which I cut off to leave part of the present showing. Then I go through the whole process again which is why the paper gets crumpled and ripped.

It’s A Wrap!

Although I love to give Christmas treats I’m sorry they look like they’ve been left in the rain. The old saying, “it’s the thought that counts” always comes to mind.

This post is my effort at taking part in the weekly prompt, Holiday Treats.

Thank you, Sue, I wasn’t sure if it would fit with the brief, but then I thought it won’t hurt to join in. ????

I don’t know why we can’t just give people the present, sans wrapping. I know it’s supposed to exciting and a surprise and all that, but why…

Definitely the thought that counts. We can’t all be perfect! Besides all those crinkles just show how hard you tried.

It helps build the tension on Christmas day when the recipient thinks they’re getting some exotically-shaped gift only to find a book. But more than that, they get the heightened anticipation of unwrapping oodles of tape for a good 10 minutes. x

Lol, I love your description, Caz. I hide my wrapped presents behind all the smartly wrapped ones too. ????

Lol! Gift bags. With tissue paper. No wrapping. No corners. And no tape. But, I do like the surprise of an exotically wrapped gift. I love how you own it!

As for me, I am one that’s OCD enough that my wrapping is awesome. Hubs doesn’t even try. On the bright side, both of my son’s can wrap a gift better than their other halves. Score! Lol

My father hates wrapping presents. So last year he put my present behind the half door under the staircase, and then hung wrapping over the door. He had me wrap all his other presents.
