New Shoes Different Colours

New Shoes Different Colours

I decided to give myself a treat today, and get a new pair of shoes. With a family wedding on the horizon and my current shoes not being what they were, it was time to spend. So off I go to the local town centre and head for my favourite shoe shop. You know how it is, rack after rack of various styles, boots, shoes, lace ups, slip ons, blah blah blah.

Anyway, after about 20 minutes I saw the pair in the photograph but in black. In the UK, they only put one shoe on the rack and if you like it you can ask the assistant to get the matching one and try them on. So it was, I handed the young lady the right hand shoe and asked if she had them in black, size 9. A couple of moments later she was back with a black pair, size 9 and I tried them on.

Perfect! Comfortable, smartish and a great price, I took them off and gave them to the assistant who took them to the counter. There was a bit of a queue when I came to pay for them, no problem, it wouldn’t take long and I’d soon be on my way. When it was my turn to be served, the cashier asked the usual questions, would I like some leather protection polish and a special application that would probably add another £20 to the bill. As usual, I declined, smiled and handed over the cash in exchange for the shoes, which by now were boxed and bagged!

After an hour or so of other shopping, I made my way home. It was then I opened the box only to find new shoes but different colours!! I was sort of annoyed and felt stupid all at the same time. How the hell did that happen? They were black when I handed them to the assistant, so something must have happened between there and the counter. I wonder if someone else bought the same shoes and they have two different colours?

Now I will have to journey back to the shopping centre and explain my dilemma. I feel really stupid, and the staff will probably have a good laugh at my expense. Why oh why do these sort of things only seem to happen to me?

I'd love to hear from you

Very smart shoes!! After you get it sorted out (and I bet the other person who wanted the brown ones is having the same dilemma) you’ll have a fine pair of shoes to go to the wedding with, and to enjoy for many years. I love a well made shoe…! 🙂

It did cross my mind, there is probably someone out there with the same dilemma.

Was the light poor in the shoe shop, or in the storeroom perhaps?

I suppose that’s possible. It’s made me feel silly though.
