One Love, based on the Daily Post Photo Challenge. Why have one love? If we take away the ‘One’ then we are left with ‘Love’ which the Beatles said ‘is all you need’. Imagine (another former Beatle song), if everyone on this planet loved everyone else as they love themselves. You wouldn’t hurt yourself, despise or wish ill will upon you or those closest to you. So why do we sometimes hate others? Everyone has a bad day, some more than others, yet we tend to ‘love it’ when we vent our frustrations on those who either upset or annoy us, friends or foe alike. If only we could offer love and peace instead of aggression to those that spoilt our day, week or life.
Another former Beatle, George Harrison wrote and sung ‘All Things Must Pass’, and once again, one quarter of this prophetic musical foursome was spot on! All things must pass, that’s life, the good the bad and the ugly, and if we realised that all the aggression and hastle that we sometimes face will pass, then all you need is love to get you through. After all, it’s much better to love than to hate. It certainly seems more peaceful.
For some reason, I seem to be getting a little philosophical in this post, almost spiritual. I never set out to sound like that, pompous or pious. I’m a great believer in treating others as you would like to be treated yourself. It’s possible to love everyone and everything in this life. A miserable, cloudy, wet and windy day can be enjoyed as much as a day with wall to wall sunshine. All you need is love.
Maybe I have misunderstood the meaning of the title One Love for this post, as I feel it’s concentrating too much on the ‘one’ and not enough on the ‘whole’, universal love of everything. Perhaps we need to be less critical of others, learn to see the good in what they can do. Maybe the post title should be changed from One Love to Universal Love. There you have it, what is supposed to be a tongue in cheek blog got all serious. I hope you enjoyed it and may peace and love find you every day.
