There’s A Place
There’s a place, where I can go, so sang The Beatles way back when. I’ve found my go to place, not just for when I feel low or blue, but whenever I want. In this lovely weather we are experiencing, I walk every day and it takes me past my ‘go to place.’ How blessed am I that I can sit here for however long I want and enjoy?
Feeling of Elation
It’s a funny old world and one thing I’ve learnt as I’ve got older is the benefit that comes from time alone, even for just a few moments. A simple break from every day pressures that life throws at us. Add to that a beautiful place and bingo…. a feeling of elation higher than anything I’ve ever known.
Getting Back To Nature
Perhaps it’s being at one with nature? The sounds, smells and the natural beauty of the countryside. The trees, the birds and every other living thing getting along with their lives, taking each day as it comes. And I’m sat there in the middle of it all, becoming part of it. I hope I’m not sounding crazy, it’s just that I think everyone should try it.
Natural Sounds
I wonder what it is about the sounds of nature that has a calming effect on our stressed out souls? Tidal waves crashing on the shore, the flow of a river rolling by, birds singing, sheep calling out to each other and even the sound of a thunderstorm. There’s a whole industry selling these sounds on CD so you can listen in the luxury of your home. I prefer the real thing, especially if the sun is shining.
Find Your Place
I’m sure you all have your ‘go to’ place and I’d love to hear about them. We spend so much of our lives running around working, dealing with daily problems that we seem to become disconnected from the ability to just be and relax. Enjoy that place when you find it, even if it’s only for five minutes.

July 26, 2018Thank you, Sue. I think I’m still coming to terms with how fortunate I am. It was never planned, but is most welcome. It’s good that we can both see ourselves as fortunate. Thank you again for your kind words.

July 26, 2018Mine is the boxing room at the gym. Len can’t walk much so sits in the social area with other Veterans, and drinks coffee .

Invisibly Me
July 27, 2018I prefer the real thing too, and there’s something very grounding, reassuring and relaxing about going to go ‘go to’ place with nature and quietness. I have a place that’s not far, just a short walk, and it’s a lovely park; the problem is it gets busy with children over the summer holidays, but it’s a big place so I always manage to find somewhere that’s a little quieter to people watch and appreciate the birds and flowers and the lake. I really should go there more often to enjoy it, but I do find it wonderful to go and get away from the business of life from time to time. Great post ๐
Have a lovely weekend,
