What are you supposed to do with the ‘Sports Personality of The Year’ trophy? Look at the size of the thing. First of all, many congratulations to a worthy winner, Geraint Thomas, on his award. I hope he gets it home because he’ll need a big van with a couple of hefty guys to move the thing. For those not familiar with this massive pot of silverware, it’s awarded every year to a sports person by the BBC. They are chosen by the public.
You Need To Live In A Castle
When he does get it home, where is he going to put it? Just look at it. If you live in a 12th-century medieval castle with 25 bedrooms and enough land to have a shed in every corner then perhaps he might find a hidey hole for it. However, I think he lives in a modern terrace house somewhere in Wales. So that trophy, when it’s delivered, is going to take up any spare room Geraint Thomas has assuming they get it through the front door.
Get That Floor Supported
Perhaps the winner doesn’t get to take it home. Maybe they just scratch his name on it and show it off in a huge hall with lots of space so people can queue and look at it. There’s no way his family will be watching T.V. especially over Christmas with that thing sat in the middle of the living room floor. He’d best make sure that those floorboards are fitted with extra strengthening too.
Should Have Been A Weight Lifter
I wonder why they make the thing so big? There’s no taking away that it’s a huge achievement to win this trophy and well deserved too. Although Geraint Thomas won it for his cycling abilities I think he must have wished he was a weightlifter.

December 18, 2018I suspect that ‘taking it to the NEC to show it off’ is not likely after what happened when he took his Tour de France one there…
A highly deserving winner and one likely to silence the usual ‘but he/she doesn’t have a personality’ complaints.

December 18, 2018The most modest and deserving winner I’ve seen. He has done remarkably well.

December 18, 2018I didn’t realise it was that big. It’s not just big it’s HUGE, and to the point of being vulgar! I agree, where on earth does someone keep something of this proportion? I have difficulty finding space to display the endless stream of extra large school photos that my family insist on giving me every time a new school year arrives! I keep hinting for a smaller size but I don’t think they hear!

December 18, 2018Yes, it’s huge and will probably need dusting 24/7

December 18, 2018The anonymous comment with the moan about school photos was from me Trev. I have no idea how I did that, but it could come in very useful at times, if only I knew how!

December 18, 2018I think you can do it anonymously if you’re not logged into WordPress. ????

December 18, 2018With my boxing, and weightlifting, maybe I could have it. Haha.

December 18, 2018I’m sure your weightlifting experience would come in handy for picking it up, Susie ????

December 24, 2018I wonder if it’s like the Stanley Cup for Hockey? Doesn’t that move around…like, the team stores it somewhere and then has to give it back? Isn’t that how it works? I dunno…but I do have to say…if one does take it home…you might have to store it on top of the roof – display it like holiday decor, but year round?

December 24, 2018Hi Sandi, I did wonder if it’s passed around or even stored somewhere safe as it seems way too big to keep in a house.

December 29, 2018Imagine someone winning it four times like Messi or Ronaldo usually do!

December 29, 2018Haha, they’d need a separate building ????
