Who on earth would put coat hooks this high up from the floor? Surely, whoever fitted them must have used a ladder unless the person was about 8 feet tall.
Art Exhibition
We had called into a local hall that was holding an amateur art exhibition. Normally, I wouldn’t remove my coat on such a visit. However, the first thing I noticed that wasn’t quite right was a jacket hanging off the door handle. My first thought was who would do that? Then I noticed the coat hangers that were so high up. On first impression, I wanted to laugh. After all, it must be a joke, no one would seriously place hooks so high as to be impossible to reach, would they?
Monty Python
It seems they would here. Perhaps they were part of the art exhibition, but after a couple of enquiries, it was soon obvious they had been placed too high by whoever place them too high! I lost all concentration after this and found it impossible to enjoy the art show. In fact, it was almost as if we had entered a real-life Monty Python sketch.
Move Along
I find it strange when you ask someone about something that’s not right on their premises, they sort of roll their eyes and give you the old “I don’t know” now move along and leave me alone look. Maybe it’s because I’m the 568th person to have asked them that day. Even if they can’t get the coat hooks lowered they could at least place a couple of temporary coat stands so visitors would have somewhere to put their jackets.
Stupid
To be honest, I was so appalled by this nonsense that I refused to have a cup of tea and maybe a slice of chocolate cake in the little cafe. Is it only me that gets wound up about nonsense like this? In the scheme of things it’s really nothing, but, these things still wind me up. You wouldn’t put a
brand new television behind the Welsh dresser so no one could see it, would you? Or carpet the shower cubicle, but that’s how the coat hanger affects me. It’s annoyingly stupid.
One day I will get to the bottom of it, but perhaps it is just what it is, a mistake that has never been put right. Oh well, I can’t hang about, certainly not in this place.

December 12, 2019Maybe the artist was promoting exercise…..jump jump!
Is that considered art by the way? I myself can be a great artist according to those standards.
admin
December 12, 2019Maybe or he was over 8’ tall. 😊
Yetismith
December 12, 2019I doubt it would wind me up quite as much as it did you, but I would be very curious too and want to get to the bottom of such a bizarre thing. 🙂
admin
December 12, 2019Thank you, Yeti. I was talking to someone this morning who said they know of another local hall with the same out of reach coat hooks. Strange.
Rosaliene Bacchus

December 12, 2019Being the curious type, I Googled and found nothing.
Maybe if you Google the name of the establishment,
there will be some lore about those hooks. I am really
curious now. Maybe they intended on displaying art
from those hooks. I can’t imagine that would be so,
but somebody must have had a reason to place them there…
Inquiring minds want to know.

December 12, 2019Thank you, I will ask around myself over the next few days, particularly a few local builders I know. If I find anything I will post it.

December 14, 2019Sounds like some place to spend the night (not sure how would I be in the morning, though) 🙂

December 14, 2019Thank you, kutukamus.
Hope
December 15, 2019😉 To each their own. Now-a-days you never know what will see or hear. Everyone has their own taste. Now the only thing I can think of is the people that come in, are very tall and the hooks were too low. 😊 BUT when you have a business who have to make everyone happy, otherwise you will lose business.
One wall should have tall, the other regular size. What do you think?😲

December 15, 2019I agree with you Hope, but these were so high off the ground, no one could reach them. 🙂
